Hello, dear readers. It’s been a while. Mostly because I just haven’t been reading GM sites lately. But today I read a lovely and inspiring post calling for civility and grownupedness online- particularly in the gamer arena. It was great. This person just wants people to be civil to one another, how novel! And yet entirely refreshing. I thought, maybe I’ll leave a comment and let them know that I appreciated reading this. And boom! What does the first comment, the “featured” comment say? The comment presumably picked by the Kinjanator as the bestest most insightful comment of the bunch? I’ll paraphrase: “Yeah, but girls are the fucking worst! BTW, check out my website.”
Puke.

And I concur about exposing your identity. All it takes is one mix up before your morning latte where you log in with the wrong account to twitter/gmail/whatever and boom. You’re forever cyber-linked to GM.
I’ve confirmed with Gawker that my account was deleted. They told me to contact tips@gawker, but I emailed them in the first place to find out if moderators like Slaybelle have access to emails sent the help desk (someone has been threatening me on tumblr to release my real name). AJ replied back and told me if I wasn’t such a PITA maybe the mod wouldn’t want to release my name.
Who do these people think they are? All this drama and retaliation does is make me not want to read GM. They don’t seem to understand that they are a business, not a clique for people who weren’t cool in HS and finally have some status in life thanks to Nick Denton being totally tone deaf about American behavior.
There have been some questions directed towards Yours Truly regarding this whole situation and why I published submissions regarding it. Generally, I publish just about everything that comes into my submission box. I’ll admit I didn’t know anything about this particular mess when submissions started coming in about it. And now, after reading through page after page of different tumblrs- I still don’t know anything about it. But, my feeling is that this has become an intensely personal feud and it makes me sad. It also has very little to do with how much Kinja sucks. The only thing Yours Truly can bring to the table is that little birdies have told me that moderators do not have the power to ban users on GM. So, Always-Banned, I think your beef is with someone other than the mods? Anyway, enough with that and on to more interesting things. Like kittehs!
